Happy Birthday America! We are 247 years young! America – the great social experiment. You may not think it, or believe it, but our country was founded by not just great men, but forward thinking men. Men of vision. One of those men, was our 1st President – George Washington.

George Washington said this of America – “The establishment of our new Government seemed to be the last great experiment for promoting human happiness.” What a statement. By the way, our Constitution is the only one in the world that guarantees our right to the pursuit of happiness.

America and all that it stands for is something that we (the 2 Old Farts) are very proud of. We served this country, in times of peace and in war. We love it – warts and all. There are things that that our founding father’s and their ancestors did that we aren’t proud of – but we’ve learned and grown from it.

So take some time to celebrate our Republic! And if you be from somewhere else in the world – thank you for listening and downloading our podcast. We thank you. Especially to Canada! You have been very good to us with your frequent downloads. We are truly an international podcast!

Ok – welcome back people.  Today our episode is about an age-old question…. Do you fold your toilet paper?  Or do you wad your toilet paper?  This topic came up last week at our father’s day gathering at the old folks house.

It seems that the women in the family wad their TP.  Whereas the men fold it.  What do you do?  Do you care?  Does it matter? We think it does.  And we want to hear from you.

Plus we talk about the Tanya Tucker concert last night at John T. Floores Country Store.  What a show! We also talk about the Venom, Inc concert I went to Friday night.  What an awesome band and a great bunch of dudes!
Ok – sit back and enjoy!

PS

We want to hear from you!

The 2 Old Farts want to wish you all a very Happy Father’s Day. We recorded it on Father’s Day (18 June) but are posting it today on Juneteenth! So Happy Juneteenth everybody! I hope everyone had a wonderful and fantastic father’s day yesterday. I know my father and I did. We were able to spend it with each other and our families. We grilled some burgers and sausage, along with jalapeno poppers. My dad made his famous baked beans. We had potato salad, strawberry shortcake, fuit and veggies and chips and dip. It a feast for sure! Oh and don’t forget the ice cold beer and Texas sweet tea! We are very grateful for your participation and we hope to hear from you. Please tell us what you like – what you dislike and what you want us to try next. We hope you keep listening because we do enjoy doing what we do.

The 2 Old Farts are back after a 2 week hiatus. Last week was my anniversary so we were on vacation.  Which fed into Memorial Day.  Memorial Day can be kind of a sad time remembering those whom we have lost.  Personally, I lost 2 friends:  Major Ed Murphy and CW2 Scott Coulter.  I worked for Major Murphy while we were stationed in Italy.  When I left Italy, he stayed behind and his unit deployed to Afghanistan.  I returned to the US where my unit deployed to Iraq.  Major Murphy died in a helicopter crash in 2005.

I knew CW2 Scott Coulter from my time at Fort Hood.  I left Fort Hood to go to Italy.  CW2 Coulter deployed from Fort Hood to Iraq in OIF 1.  He was killed by a roadside IED in the fall of 2003.  He died where I would be stationed just 14 months later.

As you will hear, my father, mother and wife and I went to see the Bellamy Brothers last night at The Roundup.  It was a great time.  My mom enjoys her bourbons!

Oh – and Canada. We’ve been having quite a few downloads from Canada.  So far this month – we’ve only had 1 download it came from Canada so congratulations!  We are so happy to have you listening to us.

Thank you!

We are back and trying to stay on schedule. We are still having some technical difficulties here and there but we are still here.  We are still here and trying to stay on schedule and trying to grow our audience.

We aren’t going anywhere. We may have been gone for awhile but we are back.  Still here. Still going strong.

We want to hear from you!

What do spider webs, emphysema and Alabama football have in common – absolutely nothing unless I’m involved in it. Yes, I had a CT scan and it looks like I have a few nodules in 1 of my lungs and the Radiologist saw the beginnings of Emphysema.  It was a pretty scary diagnosis – but I roll with the punches!  So if you are smoking — STOP.

If you are running along a path and there are bushes on either side of the path – LOOK OUT FOR SPIDERS and SPIDER WEBS!  If you run into a web – you could trip and fall (like me) and skin your knee.

We apologize for taking so long to record another episode – but we don’t apolgize for talking and loving Alabama football.  Time and “things” take us away from doing this – but we still love doing the podcast and we hope you do too!

We love our international audience.  We are so proud and honored to have you listening to us.  We really do want to hear from you!  email [email protected]  Email us – talk to us about what we American’s call Soccer but the entire world calls Football.

Happy Easter everyone!  Ok – it’s technically Easter Monday, BUT, we did record this episode yesterday.  My apologies for taking an extra week to get to this.  I was still getting over my sickness and my dad still had his hand issue.  Well, he still has the pain in his hand, post surgery but it’s getting better.

So, I think it’s official that my dad is becoming more like a child.  He doesn’t listen to me or his doctor(s).  The Dentist gave him a fake tooth to wear so that it would shape his gum line to make receiving his implant easier and more comfortable.  Did he wear that stupid fake tooth?  Heck no!  When we go out to eat somewhere, I always send him the link to the website and their menu so he can check it out ahead of time.  Does he?  Heck no!  Same with ordering beer.

Me – “Hey dad, what type of beer would you like?”

Dad – “Yuengling or Shiner.”

Me –  “No dad.  Those are brands, not types.” “Types are Lagers, IPA’s, Stouts, Wheats, etc.”

Dad – “Ok, order me whatever you think I will like”

It even happens when I ask him to navigate somewhere.  I send him the maps, directions, send him links for parking.  Does he read it before hand?  Heck no!  I think you get the point. He can be frustrating – as I am sure I am frustrating to him – but I still love him!  Hopefully he still loves me.

Yes, it takes all three of those to help me get better. It’s been a rough week being sick. From getting a fever, to it breaking, to coughing all night, to keeping my wife awake through it all – it’s been a heck of a week. I managed to stumble through it until Friday – by then I had had enough! I went to Urgent Care – and after the steroid injection, the pink cough syrup and antibiotics, I am starting to feel human again! I hope to be 100% this Friday for Randall King at John T. Floore Country Store. I hope to see you there!

PS Check out the cool matching Podcast t-shirts! Thanks KK!

This year during Spring Break we had some extra special guests! They were my grandkids – and my dad’s greatgrandkids! They came down for Spring Break. We were so happy to see them this year. We didn’t get to see them over the holidays last year. But here they are! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

It’s been 1 month exactly since our last episode and for that we are sorry. There’s been a lot going on. We lost a good friend and DAV Chapter 14 member – Stan. He was our Sergeant at Arms. There was his funeral. There have been concerts (Gene Watson), getting rained on after the concert – a dinner at Krause’s in New Braunfels, my neice’s birthday, my youngest daughter’s birthday and a host of other things. It seems that time gets away from us sometimes. My dad had hand surgery. It’s been a slow process of healing. And when you get older it takes longer and it can be a little more painful. I’m trying to be more mindful of that when we go out. I’ve been to some concerts and Brenda and I have gone to a concert.  Life seems to just get away from us.

So sit back, listen and enjoy.
